The Timberlane Regional School District is in trouble! If you live in Atkinson, Danville, Plaistow or Sandown, please write to Budget Committee and School Board and ask them to prevent a budget cut that would layoff 50 teachers, 20 paraprofessionals, 11 administrators and 5 interventionists. These professionals dedicate their lives to the betterment of our children. Our youth deserve more. Statement from New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett
on the organization’s endorsement of Kevin Cavanaugh
in the District 16 State Senate Special Election

Hooksett – New Hampshire AFL-CIO President, Glenn Brackett, released the following statement on the organization’s endorsement of Kevin Cavanaugh in the District 16 State Senate Special Election scheduled for July 25.

“I am proud to announce the New Hampshire AFL-CIO’s endorsement of Kevin Cavanaugh in his effort to become the next New Hampshire State Senator from District 16. Having known Kevin for 30 years, I know he will bring a fresh perspective to the Senate and will work for common-sense solutions that benefit hard working families. He has shown this kind of leadership as an Alderman in Manchester where he has focused on combating his city’s opioid crisis, supporting workers, and improving public schools.

We were all stunned and saddened by the loss of State Senator Scott McGilvray earlier this year. Scott was a fellow union member and a steadfast champion of New Hampshire working families. The New Hampshire AFL-CIO knows that Kevin will take up Senator McGilvray’s mantle, and bring the concerns of middle-class Granite Staters to Concord. As a career union worker, Kevin understands the importance of protecting workers’ rights and providing opportunities for our working families to get ahead. The New Hampshire labor community has a true ally in Kevin Cavanaugh.

No one in this race understands the struggles of working families more personally than Kevin Cavanaugh, and no one will work harder for them. Kevin is, without question, the best choice for the working people of Senate District 16.”

Westinghouse Electric Co. Issues Lockout Notice to 172 Union Members in New Hampshire

Brothers & Sisters,

On Sunday, Westinghouse Electric Company issued a lockout notice to 172 union members at its nuclear components manufacturing plant in Newington, New Hampshire. These New Hampshire working families will now go without income or health care.

“Clearly, Westinghouse has not bargained in good faith and we will be exploring all available recourses against the company, including filing unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board,” said union spokesman Tyler Brown.

The employees’ contract was up on April 30th. However, they did not come to an agreement, and the contract was not ratified. Before Sunday, these workers were working under a 30-day contract extension. “Westinghouse is making a mistake. This lockout will subject hard-working New Hampshire families to financial hardship and economic uncertainty. These workers have been loyal employees and deserve to be treated with dignity and in good faith,” said New Hampshire AFL-CIO President, Glenn Brackett.

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 651 are establishing a “Solidarity Fund” to help their members. If you wish to help support our brothers and sisters, please contact Duane Egan at (978)476-6472 or via e- mail

Our Brothers and Sisters need our support. Their families need our support. Please stand in Solidarity with the New Hampshire AFL-CIO and contribute any way that you are able.
