Joe Casey is a member of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO Executive Council and former President of the New Hampshire Building and Construction Trades Council running for the open seat in State Senate District 6, which includes the cities of Rochester and Farmington. Joe has worked hard his entire life to represent the interests of working men and women in New Hampshire and he needs our help to continue that good work. Knocking doors, calling voters, and participating in visibility are easy ways you can help Joe win. Every vote will count in this district.

Just last week the New Hampshire GOP sent out a negative mailer about Joe that stated he was the embodiment of “special interest” in government. Now more than ever, Joe needs our help. Click here to help Joe get his message out to New Hampshire working families!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 3, 2016

Colin Van Ostern’s Statement on Being Endorsed by the New Hampshire AFL-CIO in his Gubernatorial Race
Concord – New Hampshire Democratic Gubernatorial candidate, Colin Van Ostern, released the following statement after his recent endorsement by the New Hampshire AFL-CIO in his Gubernatorial race.

“I am proud to stand with the hardworking members of New Hampshire’s AFL-CIO,” said Democratic nominee, Colin Van Ostern. “Our next Governor must ensure New Hampshire’s economy works for everyone, not just those at the top and we’ll do that by safeguarding the bipartisan New Hampshire Health Protection plan, which has insured over 50,000 Granite Staters, investing in public education, raising New Hampshire’s lowest in the nation minimum wage and standing against the so-called ‘right to work’ legislation my opponent favors that strips hardworking people of their right to collectively bargain altogether. It’s critical that we work together to build on the progress we’ve made and move our state forward, not backward.”

PRESS RELEASE: NH AFL-CIO ENDORSES CONGRESSWOMAN ANNIE KUSTER

PRESS RELEASE

September 1, 2016

Statement from New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett on the organization’s endorsement of Congresswoman Annie Kuster

Hooksett – New Hampshire AFL-CIO President, Glenn Brackett, released the following statement on the organization’s endorsement of Congresswoman Annie Kuster in her reelection campaign for New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District.

“I am proud to announce our organization’s endorsement of Congresswoman Annie Kuster in her reelection campaign for New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District. Lots of politicians say that they are a friend to organized labor. Annie is a true and steadfast friend to labor, and New Hampshire working families. Congresswoman Kuster has stood with us in opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which, if enacted, wouldn’t just hurt Granite Staters, but workers across the county. She led efforts in Congress to increase the minimum wage because she knows that every American who works full-time should be paid fairly. She knows, like we do, that working families deserve a long-overdue raise.

The Congresswoman has a proven record of working across the aisle to foster job growth and provide opportunities to union families. Annie is the only candidate who is running in the 2nd Congressional District who knows what needs to be done to ensure that New Hampshire provides opportunities for our children. She is without a doubt, the best choice for the working people of the 2nd District.”

Statement from New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett on the organization’s endorsement of Former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter

Hooksett – New Hampshire AFL-CIO President, Glenn Brackett, released the following statement on the organization’s endorsement of Carol Shea-Porter in her campaign for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District.

“The New Hampshire AFL-CIO is proud to announce their endorsement of Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter in her campaign to retake New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District. Throughout her career in public service, Carol Shea-Porter has put New Hampshire working families first. Carol understands the immediate need for local job creation and that many Granite Staters are still struggling to make ends meet. She has stood with us in opposition to policies like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which, if enacted, would have a catastrophic impact on American workers in every state. The Congresswoman has a proven record of creating local jobs and protecting our workers. During her six years in Washington, she brought construction jobs to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, helped secure crucial funding to rebuild Portsmouth’s Memorial Bridge, increased Pell grants for students, and obtained funding grants for police and firefighters in various communities, including Manchester, New Hampshire’s largest city.

In the general election this November, Carol will be facing Congressman Frank Guinta, or Manchester businessman, Rich Ashooh. Congressman Guinta, has never put the people of New Hampshire before wealthy corporate interests or his own. Rich Ashooh has the backing of New Hampshire’s wealthiest corporations and businesses. No matter which candidate emerges from the extremely conservative Republican primary, both candidates have shown where their loyalties lie, and it isn’t with New Hampshire working families.

The New Hampshire AFL-CIO supports Congresswoman Shea-Porter because she is the only candidate running in the 1st Congressional District that believes that the wellbeing of New Hampshire workers and their families should not be subject to the business aspirations of a foreign nation or the profit margin of a wealthy corporation. We need a leader representing us that we can trust, and Congresswoman Shea-Porter has earned that trust. That is why we are certain that she will continue to fight for working families in Washington.”

Statement from New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett on Today’s Private Donald Trump Event in Manchester

PRESS RELEASE

June 30, 2016

Statement from New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett on Today’s Private Donald Trump Event in Manchester

HOOKSETT—New Hampshire AFL-CIO President, Glenn Brackett, released the following statement on Donald Trump’s visit to Manchester scheduled for 3:00 PM at the old Sylvania Facility, located at 655 South Willow Street in Manchester.

“Donald Trump can’t pull the wool over the eyes of hard working Granite Staters as he tours the country touting policies that experts have said would lead to another recession and cost the U.S. millions of jobs,” said Brackett.  “His disregard for the success of our economy here at home is no surprise given his track record of outsourcing jobs, hiring foreign workers, and cheering for an economic crisis that cost 25,000 people in our state jobs. Nothing seems to have changed as he still continues to put his own pocketbook over the working men and women or our state. He even celebrated the Brexit outcome that wiped more than $100 billion in value out of Americans’ 401(k) accounts over the course of a day because he thought it could bring more profits to his luxury Scottish golf resort. At best, Trump is a hypocrite who promises to help working men and women while he outsources jobs to benefit his bottom line at the expense of American workers.”

“I would ask all those interested in standing in solidarity with New Hampshire working families to join us at the old Sylvania facility on South Willow Street in Manchester at 12:30 PM today to let Donald Trump know that we won't be fooled by his lies.”

PRESS RELEASE: NH AFL-CIO PRESIDENT BRACKETT’S STATEMENT ON HILLARY CLINTON ENDORSEMENT

June 21, 2016

NH AFL-CIO PRESIDENT BRACKETT'S STATEMENT

ON HILLARY CLINTON ENDORSEMENT

HOOKSETT—New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett released the following statement on the organization’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

“The choice in this election is stark. Hillary Clinton has fought for American families and their ability to make ends meet throughout her career in public service. She knows that workers are the backbone of our country and her commitment to our nation’s working men and women is reflected in her record of fighting for higher wages, better workplace protections, and the elimination of the wage gap.”

“On the other hand, Donald Trump is a fraud who has actively worked to stiff his own employees in order to make himself richer. He gets up in front of crowds and makes them believe that he will fight for them. When in reality, we know that he has spent his life stepping on whoever he needed to promote and elevate himself–even when it meant lying and taking from working folks. I am proud that the AFL-CIO is supporting a candidate like Hillary Clinton who will work to build an economy that works for all of us.”
